ARLENE MALONE, M.A., LPC, NCC BOARD CERTIFIED
Marriage Center in Chesapeake, VA, was founded by Arlene Malone, a Christian and Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, and Inspirational Speaker who is passionate about the integrity of the marital relationship. Arlene is committed to helping couples build a solid foundation for a strong and loving marriage. Arlene counsels to inspire husbands and wives to resolve conflicts and to accomplish lasting change. She works with both married couples and men and women who are preparing for marriage.
Arlene's mission is to partner with couples and churches to strengthen and restore marriages by providing counsel based on the scriptures of the Bible; teaching and training couples in the day-to-day application of God’s Word, thus enhancing spiritual connectedness; and assisting in conflict resolution and reconciliation. The ultimate goal is for husbands and wives to honor and glorify God and bear witness to His love and power.
After receiving her Bachelor's degree in psychology, Arlene went on to complete her graduate studies at Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she received her Master's Degree in Counseling in 2011. In addition to providing individual and couples counseling, Arlene writes, develops marital and premarital programs, and provides workshops on marriage enrichment. Her pursuit of professional excellence and empirically validated treatments are integrated with foundational beliefs of Christian faith.
SARA LAROSE WOOD, Ph.D, LPC, NCC BOARD CERTIFIED
Sara LaRose Wood is a Licensed Professional counselor, supervisor, and counselor educator in the commonwealth of Virginia. She has her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University as well as an MA in Community Counseling and a BS in Psychology. As a counselor, she has a wide range of clinical experiences, including working in psychiatric settings, serving with the juvenile justice system, running groups for a local senior center, creating a church-based practice serving both the congregation and community with mental health resources and referrals, and maintaining her own private practice.
Her mission in counseling is to minister to the broken hearted both within and outside of the church and to be a vessel of God's healing, freedom, comfort, and provision for those in need. When it comes to marriages, she specializes in working with spouses of sexual addicts, addressing codpendency/healthy relationship concerns, and providing pre-marital/marital therapy.
In addition to her counseling, Sara enjoys a part-time faculty position at Capella University teaching the next generation of counselors, conducts research to provide empirical evidence and understanding of how spirituality relates to wellness, and loves to write about the miraculous mayhem of everyday life.
D’ONNA HUBBARD, M.A., RESIDENT IN COUNSELING
D’Onna is a Christian and Resident in Counseling pursuing licensure as a Professional Counselor in Virginia. After receiving her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Norfolk State University, she completed a Master of Arts degree in Human Services with specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling, both from Liberty University. D’Onna has worked in various agencies, providing counseling to adults, children, adolescents, and families in areas related to anger management, trauma, and grief. She also teaches counseling, psychology, and human services courses as an online Adjunct instructor at Indiana Wesleyan University.
D’Onna’s life purpose is to glorify God by helping hurting individuals, couples, and families achieve mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being by integrating biblical principles and faith with evidence-based practices.
D’Onna stands on the foundational principles as taught by her pastor, Carlton McLeod, that “The Holy Scriptures, comprised of Old and New Testaments, are fully and verbally inspired by God and are therefore infallible in the original writings and completely trustworthy in all areas in which they speak. Their central salvation message and essential teachings are clear and accessible to all who follow the standard and self-evident rules of literary interpretation. They are therefore the supreme, unmediated, and final authority of faith and practice for every believer (2 Tim 3:16-17).”
PATRICIA M. KING, PhD., RN, RESIDENT IN COUNSELING
Tricia is a registered nurse, educator and Resident in Counseling. She graduated from Regent University where she received her Ph.D (Doctorate of Philosophy) in Counselor Education and Supervision and a MA (Master of Arts) in Counseling. Tricia has a B.S (Bachelor of Science) in Nursing from the College of New Jersey.
As a counselor and mental health nurse, she has had a wide range of outpatient and inpatient mental health experience including running her own private practice for 4 years in Maine. Tricia taught nursing for 25 years before becoming the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at a local college. She also heads a mental health ministry within a local church offering support to Christians struggling with life issues. Her passion is to co-labor with Christ in the mission of setting His people free from issues in life that are weighing them down. Seeing brothers and sisters set free to walk in the fullness of the calling He placed on their lives brings her the greatest joy.
